Gainesville police say Nicholas Tyree Brown, 21, and Jeremiah Charles White, 20, broke into a parked vehicle and used stolen credit cards at Gainesville stores.

Gainesville police say two men broke into a vehicle parked at an apartment complex, stole a wallet from inside and used stolen cards to shop at several area stores.

Nicholas Tyree Brown, 21, of Gainesville, and Jeremiah Charles White, 20, of Alachua, broke into a vehicle at Ridgemar Commons in southwest Gainesville in the early hours of Feb. 22, according to a GPD arrest report.

The vehicle’s owner noticed his wallet had been stolen, and soon after received alerts about fraudulent purchases on his credit card at the Foot Locker store in the Oaks Mall, the Tommy Hilfiger and Nike Factory stores at Celebration Pointe and at a Hooters restaurant, the report said.

Surveillance footage from the Celebration Pointe stores clearly showed two men who matched Brown’s and White’s appearances making purchases that matched those made with the card, the report said. A detective who reviewed the footage recognized the pair from previous cases.

Brown and White are charged with one count each of unoccupied burglary, larceny and credit card fraud.
