Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is offering flexibility to graduating students in choosing commencement ceremonies in light of the spread of coronavirus.

DAYTONA BEACH — Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, with 125 worldwide campus locations, will allow students to graduate at any of its ceremonies at any time, as the coronavirus disrupts health and global travel.

"Our students have worked hard to earn their Embry-Riddle degrees, and we want their commencement ceremony to be a special experience, shared with friends and family," President Barry Butler said in a news release. "We didn’t want to let health or travel restrictions put a damper on our graduates’ ability to celebrate a major milestone in their lives."

The university will livestream its graduation ceremonies in Daytona Beach (May 4) and Prescott, Arizona (May 2), for family members who can’t attend. ERAU will also have commencements in Germany, Pensacola, San Diego, Dallas and Quantico, Virginia, in coming months.

"Graduation should be a happy, stress-free time of celebration for students and for all of their loved ones," Butler said.
