Cameron Michael Brewer faces federal charges in North Carolina.

SILVER SPRINGS SHORES — A man accused of possessing child pornography on his cellphone was arrested late Thursday.

Cameron Michael Brewer was picked up by Marion County Sheriff’s Office officials at an address on Hickory Road shortly before midnight and transported to the Marion County Jail.

Brewer is charged with enticement of minor for indecent purposes, according to a criminal complaint from North Carolina. At 9 a.m. Friday, the 24-year-old Ocala man was picked up by members of the United State Marshals Service. North Carolina federal officials told the Star-Banner that Brewer is expected to have a hearing in Ocala’s federal court on Friday, and from there he will be transferred to North Carolina to face his charge.

According to the North Carolina document, on Nov. 17, 2019, the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office in North Carolina received a report of obscene images found on Brewer’s cellphone. Deputies interviewed the people who made the report and were told Brewer, a guest at their residence, had snapped pictures of a woman taking a shower.

Residents said they took Brewer’s cellphone from him and saw images and videos of two women taking a shower at the residence. Deputies were told the pictures were taken without the women’s consent.

Brewer was told to leave the home. He left a note telling the residents "I am sorry I didn’t mean to betray you," according to the handwritten note that was given to deputies.

The note and cellphone were taken by the deputies, who received a search warrant to review the device and its contents. Deputies looked at the phone and discovered numerous images of naked women taken over shower enclosures.

Also found on the phone were multiple images of nude juveniles. The children’s faces were not shown, the report states.

One of the adult women seen in the picture was interviewed, and she was able to identify a comforter that belongs to a child who stayed at her residence. From the woman’s interview, it appears Brewer had a relationship with the little girl’s mother.

In December, the child’s mother was interviewed by detectives and shown pictures of the comforter. She identified the comforter and underwear seen in the picture as belonging to her child.

Federal officials were contacted to see if the images were child pornography and government officials confirm the pictures were child porn. A majority of the images seen by authorities were graphic.

Officials continued with their investigation and had a judge sign Brewer’s criminal complaint last month.
