A 26-year-old man was charged with drop-kicking a woman and then hitting her with a hatchet, Gainesville police said.

Joshua T. Williams, whose address was listed as the Dignity Village homeless area, was charged with aggravated battery and battery. Bail was set at $50,000.

Police say Williams was at the campground just before 1 p.m. Wednesday when he approached a woman he has four children with and drop-kicked her, hitting and kicking her before threatening to hit her with a hatchet.

He ordered her to get up and return to their tent, and when she didn’t, he swung the hatchet, cutting her wrist, an arrest report said. She received a two-inch cut on her right wrist.
