AUBURNDALE — A 63-year-old Auburndale man has been arrested after being accused of sexually battering a 14-year-old girl, according to Polk County Sheriff’s Office reports.

Timothy Taylor admitted to detectives that he had sexual intercourse with the girl inside his parked truck in the parking lot of the Auburndale Walmart on U.S. 92, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Taylor met the girl at the Auburndale flea market Feb. 23, and he picked her up late that evening from an area near her residence, detectives report.

In addition to the incident in his truck, detectives say Taylor engaged in intercourse a second time with the girl at an abandoned residence on Reynolds Road in Lakeland, according to the PCSO.

Detectives say that during the investigation, the girl reported a third incident of sexual contact occurred in her bedroom in the late evening hours of Feb. 24.

Prior to his arrest, the girl identified Taylor from a photo lineup presented by detectives.

On Monday, detectives monitored a phone call set up between the girl and Taylor. During the phone call, Taylor admitted to the sexual intercourse as well as not using any contraceptives, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Detectives report that Taylor told the girl he would help pay for an abortion, noting she was too young to raise a child. When he said she was "only 15 years old," the girl corrected him and said she was 14, at which point, detectives say Taylor replied, "Whatever, you’re too young."

He added that she was under the age of consent, and that he did not want to go to prison, the PCSO said.

Although the detectives tried to arrange for Taylor to return to the girl’s residence, Taylor refused and said he would call her Tuesday about 8 a.m. then come pick her up. When Taylor called Tuesday morning, he told the girl to meet him at the corner store near her home, the PCSO said.

When Taylor arrived, he was arrested on three counts of lewd battery, a second-degree felony, the Sheriff’s Office said. He was booked into Polk County Jail and is being held on no bail.

The PCSO reports that Taylor had been living in his white pickup truck, which is usually parked in the parking lot of the Auburndale Walmart. Detectives say he has been known to hang out at the Auburndale Flea Market and the parking lot of the Harvey’s supermarket, too. He also owns a motorcycle.

Detectives ask that anyone who has been abused by Taylor or has information about other crimes he may have committed call 863-298-6200.

Taylor has seven previous felony arrests and five misdemeanors in Florida for lewd and lascivious fondling of a child, indecent exposure, battery domestic violence, cocaine possession, DUI, hit and run, shoplifting and failure to appear, the PCSO said. He has not served any time in prison, detectives say.
