Governor Ron DeSantis holds press conference on Monday, May 4, with Department of Management Services Secretary Jonathan Satter, regarding COVID-19 and the Florida unemployment system.

As of Monday afternoon the Florida Department of Health report the coronavirus claimed the lives of more than 1,399 Floridians.

The DOH also reported that as of Friday’s advisory the total number of confirmed cases for the state is 36,897. There have been 428,744 tests conducted 392,111 were negative. Of the confirmed cases 6,119 have been or had been admitted to the hospital.

The state Department of Health does not currently measure “recovery,” and doesn't expect to have such a designation anytime in the near future, adding that the definition of recovery is a contested issue.
