St. Johns County sheriff’s deputies took a man into custody after he reportedly fired several gunshots in the air near his Treasure Beach home before dawn Wednesday.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies received reports of the gunfire around 4:30 a.m. When officers arrived, a resident on Rojo Road told them his neighbor had been shooting a firearm in the air.
Deputies secured the area and attempted to make contact with the suspect, but he did not come out of his home until shortly before 8 a.m.
Tyler McLeod Barnes, 40, of the 6000 block of Rojo Road, was charged with breach of the peace and recreationally discharging a firearm on residential property, a first-degree misdemeanor. Deputies booked him into the county jail just before 3 p.m. Wednesday and he remained behind bars on $1,000 bail Wednesday evening.
