Marion County Sheriff’s Office detectives arrested a sexual offender on Friday for allegedly having an inappropriate relationship with a juvenile.
Travis Ray Moore Rodgers went to the Sheriff’s Office to register his new information with the agency’s Sex Offender Predator Unit. He was detained by detectives and taken to the Criminal Investigations Division where he was interviewed by Detectives Nicholas Sutliff and N. McLain.
Rodgers told the detectives that he knew the minor, but never physically met or had any sexual relations with her. After the interview, the detectives charged Rodgers with sexual assault and sex offender violations.
According to man’s arrest report, on July 24 a deputy was told that Rodgers had had sex with a teenage girl. The teen was later interviewed by Sutliff and she alleged she had intercourse with Rodgers in his truck.
State records show the 36-year-old Fort McCoy man was released from prison in June 2016 after serving time for a traveling to meet a minor to commit an unlawful sex act offense.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement website lists Rodgers as a sexual offender.
