In response to Richard Smith's recent letter ["Blowing smoke about alcohol," Sept. 14], I have voiced many, many times agreeing that tobacco hurts or kills anyone but the smoker. I get upset every time there is a new commercial on Tobacco Free Florida.

Where are the ads for alcohol free Florida? When taxes are needed they hike the cigarettes, why not the alcohol? Where are the statistics for the deaths and personal damage alcohol does?

I get looks and comments when outside away from entrances to public places when they see a cigarette, but no comments or looks are given to people sitting in a sports bar drinking while other patrons are having a meal. Why is this? Double standards come to mind.

Apparently drinking alcohol is socially acceptable but light up a cigarette, and you are made to feel like dirt.
