The Northeast Polk County Literacy Council has received an anonymous donation from what is rumored to be a group of retired teachers. The donation is approximately $9,000 worth of student books used to teach adult literacy.
The council teaches adults to read through the work of an all-volunteer group of tutors. Students are paired with tutors who meet one-on-one at their local libraries. All sessions meet at the mutually agreed time established by the student and teacher. Services are free to anyone who lives in Polk County.
The board of Northeast Polk Council Literacy Council is overwhelmed with gratitude to the anonymous donors. The entire budget of the council is for student materials, and this donation goes far in advancing our cause.
Anyone who needs a tutor, or would like to volunteer, can call (863) 967-3200 or email email@example.com. Donations accepted in person or at JustGive.org.
