Please understand, I'm an old woman raised in the Kitchell family that at gatherings only discussed the Bible, state and federal laws and the U.S. Constitution. Not one time did I hear them say if you're related to a criminal that made national headlines, you automatically became an accessory after the fact. Nor did they say you can and will be arrested if you walk or ride by the crime scene.
The authorities picked up Zachary Cruz while he skateboarded near Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. I don't see that as a crime. What would have gotten him in trouble is if he had known what his brother was going to do, but did not notify the authorities, or if he had been with his brother while his brother was killing students.
The authorities are punishing Zachary for what his brother did, which is absolutely wrong and illegal.
When a court can pull off this atrocity against a minor, what can they do to any of us? In this last national election democracy didn't give way to communism, as was the hope of many left-wingers. This particular article published by The Ledger should act as a serious wake up call to all of us to pay attention to what is going on in our country ["Parkland shooter’s brother pleads no contest to trespassing," March 30].
