The election actually

changed very little

The election is over.

There was no “blue wave.”

The Democrats took the House; the Republicans kept the Senate.

The Senate and President Donald Trump still control the fate of any legislation passed by the House.

We are still polarized, uncivil and divided.

In short, we are set for a continuation of the ugly partisan environment we’ve had for the past two years.

Girl Scouts ambassador shares

inspiring experience at space center

As a Girl Scout, I have been provided some amazing opportunities.

Most recently I was able to witness the Parker Solar Probe launch aboard the Delta 4 Heavy rocket at the Kennedy Space Center.

I was invited to the event by Girl Scout USA CEO Sylvia Acevedo, who is a former NASA rocket scientist.

I am an ambassador Girl Scout and serve as a student member on the Girl Scouts of Gateway Council board.

I aspire to become a biomedical engineer and astronaut, and I am very grateful to Girl Scouts for this truly life-changing experience.

At the event, I met many inspiring scientists, engineers and even NASA astronauts Robert Cabana and John Grunsfeld.

I was also ecstatic to meet Eugene Parker, the solar astrophysicist whose findings on solar wind inspired the probe launch.

Witnessing the takeoff was breathtaking; it was really fun to see the rocket soar into the sky.

I am now 100 percent determined to become an engineer and astronaut.

Being in Girl Scouts has enabled me to find what I am passionate about — and to pursue it with confidence and eagerness.

I am so excited that I can share my experience at the Parker Solar Probe launch with other girls who have an interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Because of Girl Scouts, I have found my passion in science.

And I am ready to challenge the status quo.

I believe that Girl Scouts is the best organization to empower other girls to do the same.

I can’t wait to see what my future holds!
