It is always sad to read an article where someone is injured by an alligator ["85-year-old man bitten by alligator in retirement community," Dec. 4].

Most of the time we find that the person was acting carelessly and the alligator was just in their home. These actions result in injury or death to the person and an animal being destroyed.

Maybe as adults we should act more responsibly and not invade their homes. I am sure they would act accordingly and not have to stand their ground.
