Let’s stop pretending we don’t know the real reason for mass shootings and other violence in America.

It’s not a gun control crisis. It’s not a mental health crisis. It’s a spiritual crisis. Who is to blame? The church. The downfall of our churches has caused the downfall of our nation. We are living in the Spiritual Dark Ages.

In the name of “progressive” Christianity, churches refuse to instruct their members in Biblical morality and replace righteousness and holiness with humanitarian good works. Sin is excused as “nobody’s perfect,” and striving for holiness is ridiculed as “self-righteousness.” Consequently, many wander in spiritual darkness because the church is no longer the light of the community.

If we want to stop mass shootings and other violence in America, then we must confess there is a spiritual crisis in America. We must stop selling a feel-good gospel and start preaching the old-time Gospel message of repentance and sanctification that transforms hearts, minds and lives.

Unless there is a revival of old-time religion, America will continue to walk in spiritual darkness. Churches must become the light to lead us out of the Spiritual Dark Ages.
