Do some people and some politicians really want to stop gun violence or do they just want to scream about it for what they hope will be political gain?

Let's look at some past so-called solutions. First, strict gun control. Chicago has some of the strictest gun-control laws in the nation and every weekend we hear and read of multiple shootings and killings. The same can be said of many other cities with strict gun laws.

Then there are gun-free zones. It seems these zones, such as schools, are a magnet for what can only be described as mentally deranged people with guns.

We have background checks. The shooter in Philadelphia could not pass a background check, and still he had guns.

We have laws that are either not enforced or cannot be enforced so now we call for more laws that will not be enforced or cannot be enforced.

Maybe we should have an automatic death penalty for any murder committed with a gun no matter the age of the perpetrator. Murder would be defined if the killing was premeditated or for financial gain. Any other crime committed with a gun would carry a penalty of life in prison at hard labor.

There are some who shed more tears for the murderer being executed than those the murderer executed. I shed no tears for murderers.
