After planning and paying in part for a future trip through a travel agent, we decided not to continue plans due to virus fears and to cancel and seek refunds. The agent first said no amount already paid is refundable by a cruise line, but when asked to check with the cruise line, she found that our particular cruise line agreed to refund 100% of all prepaid amounts.
The travel agent then insisted that no amount of prepaid travel insurance ($600) would be refunded, but upon contacting the insurance provider ourselves, we received a 100% refund.
If you are considering canceling a pre-planned trip due to fears of virus, contact both your cruise line and trip insurance provider to seek refunds.
