Before I assess the political strengths and weaknesses of Joe Biden there is one aspect of his candidacy that has been painful to watch. Biden has always been a gaffe machine and we can laugh at many of his faux pas. But the Biden I'm now watching on the campaign trail is undergoing mental and verbal challenges that have become very noticeable.

The other night after his primary successes he was speaking to his supporters and tried to repeat the Preamble to our Constitution. About a third of the way through his recitation he got totally lost and he just babbled. The Democrats who desperately want to beat Trump are ignoring that their likely king, Biden, has no clothes.

I truly take no pleasure in pointing out the Joe Biden can no longer speak, off script, without getting lost. He is mentally deteriorating before our eyes. For those who love him or are close to him they are doing the former vice president a great disservice. I am four years older than Biden and I have seen this tragic mental deterioration in others who I have cared deeply about. Someday it may happen to me. If so, I hope that those who care about me will not allow me to embarrass myself.

What has caused the Super Tuesday Biden revival is that the Democrats finally came to grips that the socialist Bernie Sanders would likely lose and take the Congress with him in defeat. They are hoping that if Biden loses that he can at least prevent the loss of the House and maybe still have a chance at winning the Senate. This is the calculating side of seeking political power.

Having followed Biden through most of his political career I am reminded of a quote from the book written by former secretary of defense under the Obama administration, Robert Gates, who said, “Joe Biden has been wrong on every foreign policy issue for the past four decades.”

More recently Biden said that China was not a major threat to the United States. I was in disbelief when he uttered those words. Biden's handlers have since tried to correct his comments but the damage had been done. He also was the key person in convincing President Obama to pull all of our troops out of Iraq, which destabilized that country and paved the way for the growth of ISIS.

Biden regurgitated the false narrative about the Benghazi attack that claimed the life of our ambassador and three other brave Americans stating that it was caused by an obscure anti-Muslim video that few people had ever seen. He also assured the American people that those who participated in the attack would be brought to justice. Did not happen.

Perhaps the most glaring mistake of the Obama/Biden administration occurred in their efforts to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons. In his 2012 vice presidential debate with Representative Paul Ryan, Biden assured us all that the most devastating sanctions were being brought against Iran. Of course that was not true and the Obama/Biden administration then gave Iran $150 billion in what had been frozen assets.

There was nothing in the Iran nuclear deal that would prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons. It was a huge mistake that was so bad the President Obama did not take to the Senate as a treaty as he knew that many Democrats in the Senate would not approve. Fortunately President Trump canceled our participation.

Perhaps the thing I remember most from the Biden/Ryan debates in 2012 was the constant facial contortions and leering look on Biden's face as Ryan would answer questions. Because Ryan was speaking to the camera he could not see Biden's facial contortions. It was totally disrespectful.

I have not as yet touched on Biden's threat to Ukrainian officials that if they did not fire their prosecutor in six hours they would lose their $1 billion dollar loan package. The prosecutor was looking into the corrupt oil and gas company, Barisma, in which Biden's son, Hunter sat on the board making $80,000 a month knowing nothing about oil, gas, the Ukraine or even understanding their language.

This is a can of worms that may be more fully revealed soon. Setting aside Biden's political baggage, my biggest concern is the deterioration of his mental and verbal capacity as I see occurring daily on T.V.
