Lake Senior Games to be held April 4-29
The Florida Senior Games qualifiers run through March and April offering opportunities to earn a spot in the 2018 Florida Senior Games Dec. 1-9 in Clearwater.
The Lake Senior Games run from April 4-29 and offer a chance to qualify in golf, powerlifting, swimming, tennis, archery, croquet, pickleball, lawn bowling, track and field and cycling.

Swim lessons at the YMCA
The Golden Triangle YMCA is taking registrations for its early spring swim lessons.
Weekday classes run from March 26 to April 19 and the cost is $70 for members and $120 for nonmembers. Saturday classes run from March 31 to April 21.
Classes available include parent/child, preschool, school age and teen/adult. The weekday classes include eight lessons and the Saturday classes include four lessons.

Plantation softball holding golf tournament
The Plantation Softball Association will hold its 14th annual golf tournament fundraiser on April 10 at the Plantation Cranes Roost golf course.
Cost is $50 per person for the four-person scramble which will have an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
A golf cart is being offered in a hole-in-one contest and there are prizes for closest to the pin and straightest drive, among others. Lunch is being catered by Oakwood.
Registration forms for the tournament are available at the clubhouse.
YMCA will teach kids speed lacrosse
The Golden Triangle YMCA will be holding spring break sports clinic where children ages 7 to 14 can learn to play speed lacrosse. An instructor will teach the children basic skills such as scooping, passing, catching, shooting, cradling and more during the clinic.
The clinic runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. from March 19 through March 23. Cost is $80 for members and $125 for non-members.

Adult indoor soccer at YMCA
The Golden Triangle YMCA will be holding an adult indoor soccer league from March 19 through May 21.
The cost is $20 for members and there is a one-time jersey fee of $20.
Games will be held on Mondays at 7 and 8 p.m. and will be five on five.

Take a run through the park each Saturday
Clermont's parkrun 5k takes place every Saturday from Lake Hiawatha Preserve Park promptly at 7:30 a.m. The Hiawatha Preserve is located on west side of Lake Minneola in Clermont.
The address is 450 12th St., Clermont.
The event is free and put on by volunteers each week and draws an average of about 75 runners a week. Participants are asked to register and print out a one-time parkrun barcode that is used for timing. Printing out the personal barcode is essential.

Eustis offering Zumba classes
The Eustis Recreation Department is offering an adult Zumba class. The classes will be held on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. in the Garden Room at 2214 Bates Ave. The first class is free and the cost on a per-class basis is $5. You can purchase a 10-class card for $35.

Eustis holding Simply Gentle Yoga classes
The city of Eustis Parks and Recreation Department is offering Simply Gentle Yoga classes on Fridays at 10 a.m. and the cost is $7 per session.
The classes will be held in the Lakeview Room at the Eustis Community Center, 601 Northshore Drive.
Certified yoga instructor Nancy LaPointe will lead the classes that will combine chair, standing and floor work. Participants will learn techniques for healthy self-care; ways to move to keep your body strong and flexible; how to strengthen your balance muscles and healthy breathing techniques to manage stress and anxiety and to help you sleep.

Open hours at Leesburg gymnasium
The Leesburg Recreation Department holds open gym hours throughout the week. The cost to play is $2 a day or $20 a year for adults and $1 a day or $10 a year for youths ages 12 to 17. If you play 10 days, you automatically get a yearly membership.
The gym, located at 1851 Griffin Road, is open from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Mondays and Fridays and from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Saturday open gym hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Line dancing for fun and fitness
The Leesburg Public Library at 100 E. Main St. will have line dancing instruction on the second Monday of each month at 1 p.m. The cost is free. Line dancing is a popular form of exercise. It doesn't require a partner and it improves balance and memory. All levels are welcome, especially beginners. Peter Statham is the instructor.
Pick up pickleball at Donnelly Park
The Mount Dora pickleball courts are located in Donnelly Park, 530 N. Donnelly St. and are available for public play. There is equipment available for public use in the green cabinet beside the courts. There are several independent groups that play in the mornings and would love to teach new players and gain new members.
