Jalen Steiger pitched six scoreless innings Tuesday night to pick up his second straight decision.
Steiger (2-2) allowed four hits and struck out three to help St. Augustine (4-5) win at home against Daytona Beach Father Lopez.
Jett Lauster (2 for 2) hit a double, scored three runs and drove in a run for the Yellow Jackets. Blake Napier (1 for 2) drove in two runs, while Steiger was 3 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored.
Mason Money went 3 for 4 with a double an RBI and a run scored for Menendez (2-4) in a home loss to Middleburg (5-5) on Tuesday night. John Galioto had a two-run double for the Falcons, who host Crescent City at 7:30 p.m. today.
Bartram Trail 2
Nease senior Bailey Pattison pitched another gem against Bartram Trail, but could not pick up the win. Pattison allowed one earned run in six innings Tuesday night in St. Johns.
Bartram’s Hannah Dugan allowed three hits and struck out seven to improve to 3-1. Maegan O’Brien (2 for 3) doubled, stole a base and scored a run in the first inning. Savannah Parker scored the Bears’ second run in the fifth, and freshman catcher Emma Morris was 2 for 3 with a double for the home team.
The Bears (9-1, 3-0) will close their district schedule tonight against Creekside. Nease 6-4 (0-2) will play Englewood in a district contest tonight.
St. Augustine 7
St. Augustine was without head coach Bob Esguerra, who was hospitalized with heart problems, Monday. But the Yellow Jackets were able to focus and get the win in Jacksonville.
St. Augustine's CeCe Killin was 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored. Nykki Burres and Taylor Allen was 1 for 3 with an RBI. Bailee Esguerra drove in a run and scored twice. Hannah Porter and Carson Freeman also scored runs.
Bartram Trail 19
Brody Davis scored six goals and Ian Parr scored five Tuesday night to lead Bartram Trail to a rout of Sandalwood at home.
Tim Adams and Gavin Madden added two goals apiece for the Bears (4-3). Goalies Michael Mobley and Brody Johnson combined on the shutout. Bartram Trail hosts St. Augustine at 7:30 tonight.
Flagler College 18th at
VALDOSTA, Ga. — The Saints finished with a 314 for 18th place Tuesday in the First Federal Southeastern Collegiate at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club. Newberry won the tournament with a 4-over 868.
Flagler’s Juan Iturra shot a 2-over 74 in Tuesday’s third round to finish in a tie for 42nd place at 10-over 226. Jack Kegelmeyer finished tied for 76th at 19-over 235. Nicolas Vanegas tied for 81st with a 20-over 236. Maura Baez carded an 82 Tuesday to finish at 26-over 242 and Luke Dougherty tied for 92nd with a 251.
West Florida’s Chandler Blanchet beat Florida Southern’s John VanDerLaan on the eighth playoff hole to win the individual title. Both finished at 6-under 210. Flagler will compete in the Bearcat Golf Classic in Greenwood, South Carolina on March 26-27.
