Cardinal Mooney finishes the season 15-2


The Braden River and Cardinal Mooney High girls beach volleyball teams finished third in their respective divisions at the Sunshine State Athletic Conference championships at Hickory Point Complex.

Braden River went 3-2 and was third in the Division AA — Public Schools division. The Pirates defeated Ocala West Port, 5-0, Citra North Marion, 5-0, and Port Orange Spruce Creek 4-1. Braden River lost to West Orange, 4-1, and Merritt Island, 4-1.

Individually, Pirates' No. 1 seed Sydney Jaco/Arianna Osika went 3-2, No. 2 seed Hannah Reynolds/Camrie Henderson went 3-2, No. 3 seed Andrea Garcia/Emma DeCastro went 4-1, No. 4 seed Sam Drouin/Faith Affolter went 3-2 and No. 5 seed Sam Pondillo/AJ Sprague went 3-2.

Cardinal Mooney went 4-1 in the Division A — Private Schools division. The Cougars went 3-0 in pool play, defeating Tallahassee Trinity Catholic, Jupiter Christian and Oviedo The Master’s Academy. The Cougars lost to Bishop McLaughlin in the semifinals before defeating The Master’s Academy for third place.

Individually, Cougars' No. 1 seed Anna Klemeyer/Madison Brown went 2-2 with a did-not-finish, No. 2 Kali Plattner/Sophia Hebda went 5-0, and No. 3 Dalton Judge/Kara Klemeyer went 4-1. All are underclassmen and return for the Cougars, who went 15-2 overall.
