CLASS 3A-DISTRICT 10 TRACK & FIELD

TARPON SPRINGS

The Braden River High girls and the Venice High boys finished third at the Class 3A-District 10 track and field meet Friday at East Lake High School.

The Pirates girls finished with 91 points behind winner East Lake (152) and runner-up Seminole Osceola (95.5). Venice finished fourth (67.5) and Palmetto (27.5) ended ninth.

In the boys team scoring, the Indians scored 82 points, trailing East Lake (150) and Osceola (103).

Area district champions were Braden River’s Alyssa Gagnon (2 minutes, 19.89 seconds in 800-meter run), Venice triple jumper Michael Trapani (43 feet, 5¾ inches) and the Venice girls 400 and 800 relay teams.

The top four finishers in each event advance to the Class 3A-Region 3 meet April 26 at Charlotte High.

CLASS 3A-DISTRICT 11 TRACK & FIELD

The Charlotte High girls cross country team finished first in the Class 3A-District 11 track and field meet Friday at Ida Baker High School.

The Tarpons scored 148 points to slip past runner-up Fort Myers (140). Port Charlotte finished third with 79 points.

On the boys side, the Pirates (83.5) ended as runners-up to Fort Myers (152.5). The Tarpons were sixth with 59.5 points.

District champions for the Charlotte girls were Kaitlyn Chavarria (26.63 in the 200), Isabella Coogan (11:38.43 in the 3200), Eunice Noel (15.09 in the 100 hurdles, 47.88 in the 300 hurdles). The Port Charlotte girls 400 relay team of Isabella Reyes, Emmalee Lowe, Kristen Locker and Shannon Ingman won in 4:23.23. Port Charlotte’s Kristen Locker won the high jump with a 5-3.

In the boys meet, area winners were Port Charlotte’s Tyreece Luther was a double winner: 23-3 ¼ in long jump, 45-9 ¼ in the triple jump, and Charlotte’s Savorian Warren (22.62 in 200). The Tarpons’ 100 relay team of Andrew Grace, Isaiah Dareus, Nycarion Harvey and Warren finished first in 42.86.
