Lemon Bay boys win all its matches

ENGLEWOOD — Tournament host Lemon Bay won all its matches on the boys’ side of the Class 2A-District 11 tournament, while the girls have a challenge from Bayshore after Monday’s matches.

All five Manta Rays boys are in a singles final, which begins today at 9 a.m. Lemon Bay tops the standings with 10 points, then it’s Southeast in second with 7, Bayshore with 6, Lake Placid with 4, and DeSoto County and Booker with 1 apiece.

On the girls’ side, the Mantas’ run of eight straight district crowns could be in jeopardy. Bayshore leads with 9 points, followed by Lemon Bay with 8, Southeast with 5, Booker and DeSoto County with 3 points each, and Lake Placid with 1.

The top two teams in each division will compete in the Region 6 semifinals on April 24 against the top two teams from District 12, with champion on one district hosting the runner-up from the other district.

All winners at No. 1 singles and doubles go to the state tournament.

In the boys’ No. 1 singles final today, top seed Aiden Little from Southeast faces No. 2 seed Enrique Subero from Lemon Bay.

In the girls’ No. 1 singles final, two-time defending champion Theo Schultz of Bayshore faces Southeast’s Jewel Henderson.

The doubles semifinals and finals will follow the singles finals today.
