Mark Castle’s infield single in the top of the ninth inning broke a tie and helped send Creekside past St. Augustine 3-2 in the Region 1-7A baseball semifinals on Thursday.

Castle knocked in Nick Tripp for the eventual game winner to send the Knights (21-7) past the Yellow Jackets (18-12). Creekside will travel to face Pace (22-6) in the regional final on May 22.

St. Augustine nearly pulled off its second win over the Knights of the month.

Creekside intentionally walked Nick Phifer with one out in the bottom of the seventh. Brogan Napier singled to left field and Jalen Steiger tried to score from second base. But Connor Hults came up firing from the outfield and nailed Steiger at the plate to send the game into extra innings. Tripp earned the win with two innings of two-hit relief, and Hults worked a perfect ninth for the save. Jeff Lauster and Kyler Kirwan had two hits each for St. Augustine.
