The beach volleyball team of Adam Wienckowski and Jon Justice earned its first victory Tuesday at the World University Championships in Munich, winning 21-17, 21-18 against Mao Harada and Daisuke Shibata of Japan.

Later in the day, the Florida State duo lost 22-20, 21-11 to Oscar Jimenez and Hugo Rojas of Spain.

Wienckowski, a 2018 graduate of Providence, and Justice, from St. Augustine, will continue matches in the consolation bracket Wednesday and Thursday to determine overall placing.

Wienckowski and Justice lost their opening matches Monday against teams from Germany and Switzerland, placing third in their preliminary group.
