DE Dante Fowler (shoulder) was removed from the physical unable perform list on Saturday.

Roster moves: The Jaguars signed cornerbacks Bryce Canady, a Jacksonville native, and Kenneth Acker. To make room, the Jaguars released cornerbacks Dexter McDougle and Charlie Miller. Both McDougle and Miller practiced on Saturday.

Top play: On a post route near the right sideline, rookie WR DJ Chark hauled in a spectacular acrobatic catch against tight coverage from CB Quenton Meeks after making an adjustment to the pass. Chark outjumped Meeks for the ball by getting inside position.

Bad play: The entire secondary didn’t come out with enough energy on Saturday and got repeatedly beat in coverage. In 7-on-7 work, reserve cornerback Jalen Myrick got beat on consecutive plays by wide receivers Rashad Green and Marqise Lee.

Quarterback statistics (11-on-11 only): Blake Bortles (34 snaps) 20-26-0; Cody Kessler (27 snaps) 18-23-0; Tanner Lee (13 snaps) 2-5-0.

Pass breakups (11-in-11 only): CB Sammy Seamster, CB Dee Delaney, S Ronnie Harrison, Jalen Myrick.

Thumbs up

• Rookie LB Leon Jacobs raced through the middle to sack QB Blake Bortles during 11-on-11 work.

• RG A.J. Cann has had a strong camp. During one-on-one work Saturday against the defensive line, he was able to stand up nose tackle Abry Jones.

• DE Dante Fowler had a solid first day that included a sack in 11-on-11 work.

• WR Dede Westbrook made several nice catches, but one of the best was his tipped-pass catch over the middle.

Thumbs down

• In 7-on-7, RB T.J. Yeldon had space in the open field but dropped a screen pass thrown by Bortles.

• DL Marcel Dareus has won his share of battles during one-on-one pass rushing drills, but he was unable to get around third-string OG KC McDermott.

• Rookie QB Tanner Lee didn’t get many reps Saturday but he made an errant low sailing pass that was uncatchable for WR Montay Crockett.

Odds and Ends

• The defense had three sacks in 11-on-11 (Carroll Phillips, Leon Jacobs, Dante Fowler).

• During a stretch in 11-on-11 work, Bortles completed 14-of-15 passes.

• CB C.J. Reavis intercepted Bortles during 7-on-7 drills.

• WR Keelan Cole worked returning punts with Dede Westbrook and Rashad Greene.

• Backup OT William Poehls won his matchup against Fowler during one-on-one pass rushing drills by staying in front of him.

• The Jaguars had their 10th consecutive padded practice.

Quote of the day

"I’m just happy to see him back (and) to start playing. Obviously, he has worked hard to get back, strengthening (his shoulder) and everything. We will return him to practice. He will come back out, and we will work him back in there. I am excited to see him. He’s put in a lot of work and [we will] see him on the field, see what he can do." Coach Doug Marrone on Dante Fowler's return to practice
