Q&A with Newberry junior running back/defensive back Wyatt Parrish

Q: What is your favorite sport besides football and why?

A: Basketball, because it keeps your legs under you after football season. My favorite team is the Cleveland Cavaliers. 

Q: What’s your favorite part about playing on Friday nights?

A: Playing for your friends and family, but my favorite aspect is being under the lights with my brothers and the team. 

Q: Favorite movie you saw this summer?

A: t’s not new, but Friday Night Lights. It’s my favorite movie ever.  

Q: Happiest day of your life?

A: When I got a pick-6 against Santa Fe last season, week one. 

Q: What do you think about LeBron James teaming up with the Lakers?

A: I think it’s going to be crazy. I don’t know what to think about it. I do think they’re going to beat the Warriors. 

 

Q&A with Newberry senior defensive end Rashad Opato

Q: Which current or former NFL player do you most base your game off of?

A: JJ Watt. He’s just aggressive, and he’s unstoppable. I like that.  

Q: Which college football team has the best chance to play for the national championship?

A: I don’t know, because I don’t watch college football. I like to watch football, but I’m mainly on YouTube all the time watching.

Q: Which game on Newberry’s schedule are you most looking forward to?

A: Santa Fe, because I just like playing Santa Fe.

Q: Greatest football game you’ve seen in your lifetime?

A: When we played Pahokee in 2016 (Panthers lost 35-34 in overtime). It was a real good game. 

Q: What’s your favorite aspect of playing defensive end?

A: Sacking the quarterback and getting through the line.

Q&A with Newberry sophomore defensive back Kobe Delima

Q: Who inspires you the most and why?

A: (Minnesota Vikings running back) Dalvin Cook. I’m a Florida State fan and he was just a good role model, he ran the ball pretty good and couldn’t be touched. You thought he was tackled and he wasn’t down, so that’s pretty much why I like him. 

Q: What have you done personally to prepare for the upcoming season?

A: Came to workouts this summer, and woke up on my often this summer to work out. Just went after it. 

Q: If you could be teammates with any current or former NFL player, who would it be and why?

A: There’s a lot, but probably Todd Gurley. He’s a strong and aggressive runner, he’s very explosive. 

Q: Which area team has the ugliest jerseys?

A: I got to say, probably Union County’s. They’re like LSU colors, but it’s plain. 

Q: If you could play any sport besides football, what would it be?

A: Basketball. You stay in shape and you’re not doing anything negative, you’re staying positive, you’re not getting in trouble.
