Fletcher's Chance Conde placed third, swimming a time within the cutoff for All-American consideration, at Saturday's FHSAA Class 4A swimming finals.

Fletcher's Chance Conde raced to third place in the boys 500-yard freestyle, highlighting the Northeast Florida performances at Saturday's Class 4A state high school swimming championships in Stuart.

Conde swam 4:30.44, a time good for All-American consideration, and the Senators' 200-yard medley relay team of Kyle Smithers, Sam Florey, Larry Salls and Cory Gann placed fourth as Fletcher took eighth place in the boys team standings.

Salls, Florey and Gann also combined with Merrick Davis on a fifth-place Fletcher finish in the boys 200 free relay.

Fleming Island's Drew Heinton finished fifth in the boys 50 free, while Mandarin's Victoria Ortiz was eighth in the girls 500 free and Mandarin's Kenny Chism came in seventh in the boys 100 breaststroke.

The Class 1A and 2A championships will be the next finals on the schedule, set for Friday and Saturday.
