Nease continued to roll over its competition with two lopsided victories Friday and Saturday at the Andy Hart Memorial Tournament at Mayo Lafayette.

The Panthers (8-0) defeated Boca Raton (5-2) 73-47 on Saturday, a day after trouncing previously undefeated Ocala Vanguard 73-43.

Four players scored in double figures for Nease on Saturday led by Camille Hobby, who had 23 points, 14 rebounds and three blocked shots. Kiya Turner scored 15 points with five rebounds, four steals and five assists and Tia Robinson and Peyton Carter each had 11 points and six rebounds. Robinson also dished out seven assists.

On Friday, the Pathers played their best game of the season statistically with five players scoring nine or more points — Carter 15 points, Karissa Niles and Robinson 11 points apiece, Turner 10 points and Hobby nine points — and five players distributing three or more assists as Nease totaled 23 assists and turned the ball over just seven times. Turner barely missed a double-double with nine assists and also led the team with five steals. Hobby added eight rebounds, four steals and two blocked shots.

Nease hosts Englewood on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

 

Bishop Moore 48, Ponte Vedra 31

Orlando Bishop Moore improved to 3-1 with a win at Ponte Vedra (4-2) Friday night. Riley Mayer led the Sharks with 10 points. Sophomore Trish Balser added seven. Ponte Vedra visits Bishop Kenny on Tuesday.

 

Creekside 55, Buchholz 33

Sophomore Taylor Gardner poured in 21 points to lead Creekside (5-1, 2-0) to a District 4-8A victory at Gainesville Buchholz. Anna Rose Epting added 12 points and Maddie Lippy scored 11 for the Knights, who travel to Fleming Island on Tuesday.

 

Bartram Trail 58, Bradford 26

Bartram Trail improved to 3-2 with a road win Friday night. The Bears host Menendez at 7:30 p.m. Monday.

 

BOYS BASKETBALL

Nease 57, Ponte Vedra 48

Nease won at home in the Battle of the Bridge — basketball version — on Friday night. The Panthers (3-3) outscored the Sharks (3-3) 36-28 in the second half. Nease travels to Middleburg for a district game on Tuesday. Ponte Vedra also has a district game up next. The Sharks will host Clay on Tuesday night at 7:30.

 

Buchholz 77, Creekside 62

Creekside fell to 0-3, 0-1 in District 4-8A with a home loss to Gainesville Buchholz (2-2, 1-0) on Friday night. The Knights were held to 15 rebounds. Christian Williams scored 14 points for Creekside, while Jakeem Fulks scored 12 points. Jacob McCann led Buchholz with 26 points.

 

BOYS SOCCER

Creekside 8, Middleburg 0

Creekside recorded its fourth shutout of the season on Friday night at Middleburg. The Knights (8-1) will host Nease (6-0-1) in a showdown between two of the top teams in the area Monday night at 7:30.

 

Menendez 3, Palatka 1

Menendez improved to 1-3-2 with a victory at Palatka (2-4-2) on Friday night. The Falcons travel to Gainesvill Buchholz on Monday night.
