Menendez improved to 4-2 with a comprehensive District 5-6A win over Matanzas on Thursday night. Menendez outscored the Pirates 18-1 in the third quarter to take control of the game. Ja’tavia Holliman led the Falcons with 20 points. Darralela Tobler and Vaclava Seifrtova scored nine apiece while Aniyah Foster added eight. Menendez travels to Bartram Trail on Monday night. Tipoff is 7:30.

 

GIRLS SOCCER

St. Thomas Aquinas 1, Ponte Vedra 0

Ponte Vedra conceded its first goal of the year against Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas at the Montverde Women’s Invitational Showcase Tournament in Orlando on Friday afternoon. Isabella Piso’s second-half goal was assisted by Isabella Solano. Ponte Vedra (6-1-1) will play Southwest Ranches Archbishop McCarthy today at 2 p.m.

 

Creekside 3, Buchholz 1

The Knights used a brace from Paige McSwigan and another goal from Kate Wagner to beat the Bobcats in Gainesville on Thursday night. Creekside improved to 3-2-1.

 

Menendez 9, Interlachen 0

The Falcons breezed to victory on Thursday night. Morgan Schooley, Ahnalie Layman and Ava McGraw scored two goals apiece. Shelby Brim, Sydney Branch and Izzy Sadowski also scored. The Falcons (3-2-1) will face Clay on Tuesday night.
