Billy Horschel joins area residents Steve Melnyk, Deb Richard and the late Dan Sikes as golfers in the University of Florida Hall of Fame.

Billy Horschel of Ponte Vedra Beach will be inducted into his first Hall of Fame.

Horschel will join the University of Florida Hall of Fame during a ceremony on Oct. 4, the night before the Gators’ home football game against Auburn. Horschel was a three-time first-team All-American and a four-time All-SEC player from 2006-09.

He has won five times on the PGA Tour, with 36 top-10 finishes. He captured the FedEx Cup in 2014.

Other area players making it in the Florida Hall of Fame are Mandarin graduate Fred Weary in football and former Bolles swimming coach Gregg Troy.

Horschel joins Steve Melnyk, Dan Sikes and Deb Richard as other area residents in the UF Hall of Fame as golfers.
