Cardinal Mooney has to give up its home game vs. Berkeley Prep Sept. 6 because of stadium lights issue

Two fall Preseason Football Classics were cancelled and an area team was forced to move a regular season home game to the road before the regular season begins.

Because of a dispute with football officials in Lee County, Charlotte High’s game Friday night at Cape Coral Mariner was cancelled.

Also, a scheduling dispute forced the cancellation of the IMG Academy National at Lake City Columbia on Friday for its preseason classic.

Cardinal Mooney was forced to switch its scheduled Sept. 6 home game against Berkeley Prep to Tampa due to delays in permitting for new stadium lights. The Cougars’ field is getting a complete makeover. Cardinal Mooney’s first home game on its new turf field is 7 p.m. at Sept. 20 against Lakeland Victory Christian Academy.
