Keiser’s second game of the season against St. Andrews University has been postponed due to Hurricane Dorian

Keiser University’s football game against St. Andrews University, scheduled for today in Laurinburg, N.C., has been postponed because of the threat posed by Hurricane Dorian.

Officials from both schools said the game could be made up at a later date.

Keiser opened its second season as an NAIA program on Aug. 29 with a 34-21 victory over No. 24 Dordt in Sioux Center, Iowa. It was the Seahawks’ first road win over a ranked team.

Sophomore quarterback Eli Mathews (Palm Beach Gardens) earned Mid-South Conference Sun Division offensive player of the week honors for the second time in his career. He completed 20 of 21 passes for 256 yards and three touchdowns, and rushed for 73 yards on 10 carries.

Senior linebacker Ronnie Bennett (American Heritage) was named Sun Division defensive player of the week. He had five tackles, a sack and a fumble recovery against the Defenders.

The Seahawks are off next week before playing their home opener Sept. 21 against No. 10 Reinhardt (Ga.). Kickoff is at 12:30 p.m.
