HAINES CITY — Lake Wales scored early and often, as the Highlanders rolled to a 77-0 victory over Haines City on Friday at Joe Stangry Stadium.

Highlanders quarterback Eric Williams led the offense, completing five of his seven passes for 108 yards, including a 38-yard touchdown to wide receiver Terrell Parker in the first quarter. Williams, a transfer from Winter Haven, also rushed three times for 31 yards, including first-half touchdown runs of 4 and 6 yards.

“We had a lot of penalties last week that we worked to correct this week,” said the 6-foot-3 Williams. "This week, we worked on getting better as a team, eliminating mistakes. The touchdown pass was a quick slant. Coach told me to watch and see that it would be there in the middle, and it was.”

Highlanders running back Johnny Richardson had another productive night in his shortened workload, gaining 82 first-half yards on eight carries. Richardson would rush only four times early in the third quarter, finishing with 158 yards on 12 carries. Richardson had touchdown runs of 30, 5, 15 and 36 yards.

Glenn Borders had 10-yard touchdown in the final quarter, and Amani Brown scooped up a fumble and raced into the end zone from 20 yards as well.

Late in the first half, Marquish Seabon rushed for a 20-yard touchdown.
Defensive back Joel Hadley then intercepted a Brody Lee pass and raced 75 yards for a touchdown, bringing the halftime score to 50-0.
