The Gators notched a straight-sets sweep to advance to the state championship match for the third consecutive year

In a match where the start time was pushed back to two hours, Palm Beach Gardens volleyball didn't come out flat.


The Gators (21-6) swept visiting Southwest 25-17, 25-21, 25-17 in a Class 7A state semifinal on Saturday. With the win, Palm Beach Gardens advances to the state final for the third consecutive season.


It's also the third consecutive season Palm Beach Gardens has defeated Southwest in a state semifinal.


Anabelle Standish led the way with 13 kills while Hailey Hart chipped in eight kills and 19 digs. Hannah Heide added 12 digs, seven kills and four aces. Ashley Klein had 15 digs, and Kayla Thompson had three blocks and five digs.


The match was originally slated to start at 2 p.m. but was pushed back to 4 p.m.
