LAKELAND – Things changed quickly in the second quarter.


Jacksonville Andrew Jackson took a 34-26 halftime lead on Community School of Naples on Wednesday in an FHSAA Class 3A state semifinal at the RP Funding Center in Lakeland.


Jackson utilized a 20-10 second quarter run to take the lead after trailing 16-14 at the end of the first quarter. Jackson was led by Frankie Denard with seven points and Andre Myers and Jackie Simmons III with five points apiece.


Community School picked eight points from Xavier Lovenson and seven from Jay Beshears in the first half.


The winner will play Boca Raton St. Andrew’s in the 3A state championship game on Saturday at 10 a.m. St. Andrew’s advanced after handling Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna 68-58 in an earlier semifinal.
