ST. PETERSBURG -- There will be no repeat for the Florida Southern College women's basketball team.
A late rally wasn't enough as the No. 3 Moccasins were ousted in the Sunshine State Conference Tournament semifinals with a 74-60 loss to No. 2 Eckerd on Thursday night.
Despite trailing by as many as 22 points early in the fourth quarter, Florida Southern (19-11) cut the Tritons' lead to 10 at 67-57 on a layup by Marta Aranda with 3:46 left.
That was as close as the Mocs, the defending SSC tourney champions, would get as Eckerd took an early lead to send the Mocs out of the playoffs.
Florida Southern got a team-high 16 points from Julia Jenike and 12 points apiece from senior Katerina Pazzaglia-Khomenko and freshman Kaja Wroblewska.
The Mocs will now have to wait and see if they will be a part of the NCAA Division II South Regional Tournament. Currently Florida Southern is No. 7 in the latest rankings that came out March 1.
The NCAA Division II Selection Show will be held Sunday night with the top eight teams in each regional's rankings making the tournament.
