NASCAR’s Cup Series will race on Sundays and Wednesdays for a couple of weeks, at least, beginning May 17.
Can you get accustomed to a Sunday-and-Wednesday schedule for a while?
GODSPEAK: I think I can move some things around in my schedule to make this work.
KEN’S CALL: At this point, I’d watch mid-morning matches from the Central Minnesota Curling Association, so yes, bring it on, and toss in one more during the week if necessary.
Did anyone benefit most from the layoff, aside from the obvious?
GODSPEAK: Remember what poet Thomas Haynes Bayly wrote in 1844? “Absence makes the heart grow fonder.” I think this will work in NASCAR’s favor.
KEN’S CALL: Aside from Ryan Newman, I’d say Timmy Hill, because during iRacing he got more air time than he will the rest of the season.
Also aside from the obvious, who benefited least?
GODSPEAK: Follow the money, man. Fox Sports is footing the NASCAR bill. The network has been the biggest loser by far. Boogity!
KEN’S CALL: I’d say everyone who had invested lots of time, effort and emotion on the Next Gen car, whose debut has been pushed back a year due to this uninvited plague.
