Here are all the Miami Dolphins rookie jersey numbers
Tua is the 1.
Tua Tagovailoa, in an announcement widely anticipated since he was drafted, revealed to the world he will wear jersey #1 for the Miami Dolphins.
Among the numbers Tagovailoa had discussed potentially wearing in the NFL before the draft were 1 and 2. But in Miami, punter Matt Haack wears 2.
Number 13, which Tagovailoa wore at Alabama, was obviously retired in Miami, for Dan Marino, and so too was 12, for Bob Griese.

On social media, Tagovailoa revealed a photo in which he was wearing the number 1. Tua’s caption read: “For the Audience of 1.”
According to Athletes In Action, to play for an audience of one means to play with God, to keep sight of priorities, to experience peace and to play with complete freedom because only God’s opinion of you really matters.
Tua added an emoji of hands praying.
Tagovailoa has worn 11 but that’s taken by DeVante Parker. And number 3 is taken by quarterback Josh Rosen.
Tagovailoa could have gone with 5, as he’s the fifth overall pick. Or he could have gone for 10, but he went for the singular digit, following an NFL trend.
Former first overall draft choice Kyler Murray wears 1 for Arizona.
Eight Hall of Famers have worn 1, including Jim Thorpe and Warren Moon.
The most well-known player to wear 1 for the Dolphins is kicker Garo Yepremian, who wore the number from 1970-78.

According to Pro Football Reference, the most accomplished players since 1966 to wear 1 are: Moon, Cam Newton, Gary Anderson, Jason Elam, Garo Yepremian, Rafael Septien, John Smith, Matt Turk.
Among the notable other QBs would be Jeff George and Murray. Not many notable quarterbacks have ever worn 1, really.
The Dolphins and apparel and merchandise companies had wanted Tagovailoa and fellow rookies to receive their numbers as soon as possible due to popular public demand.

It seems entirely possible that Tagovailoa jerseys, assuming fans at some point are allowed to attend games in 2020, may rival legends like Marino, Jason Taylor, Zach Thomas and Ricky Williams in the Hard Rock Stadium stands.
