For 2020, the Symetra Tour Championship has been rebranded the Symetra Classic and won’t be the season-ending event for the LPGA Tour’s developmental league.

Since 2012, the tournament has concluded the tour’s season and along with a winner, finalized the year’s money-winning list and “graduated” the top 10 earners to the following year’s LPGA Tour.

With the coronavirus wrecking schedules worldwide, the Symetra Tour announced a revised 2020 schedule that includes 15 tournaments, beginning the second weekend of July in Cincinnati.

The Daytona Beach event, played alongside the LPGA Tour’s headquarters at LPGA International, holds on to its original Oct. 1-4 date but will be followed by three other tournaments, including a revised season-ender, Nov. 3-6, in Davidson, N.C.

LPGA officials suggest the Daytona Beach tournament will return to its previous spot next year’s schedule.

The Symetra Tour had 20 events on its 2020 schedule and had played just one when professional golf was shut down in March. The revised schedule has 16 tournaments.
