Baker is a Miami captain
Dolphins linebacker Jerome Baker, a team captain, was placed on the COVID-19 list on Friday.
Baker was joined by defensive tackle Zach Sieler.
Baker, 23, has 200 tackles in two seasons. Sieler, 24, is expected to provide depth to Miami’s defensive line.
“Y’all I’m fine,” Baker tweeted. “Appreciate the love and support.”
The COVID-19 list was created for a player who either tests positive or has been quarantined after having been in close contact with an infected person.
Dolphins rookie snapper Blake Ferguson and veteran cornerback Cordrea Tankersley are also on the COVID-19 list. Rookie defensive tackle Benito Jones was on the list but has been cleared to return.
Dolphins rookie running back Malcolm Perry and linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel have both recovered from coronavirus and have donated plasma to patients.
Dolphins veterans have had three tests. They will have physicals and equipment fittings the next two days. And they can begin on-field conditioning and walk-throughs on Monday.
Players won’t have contact practices until Aug. 17.
